Mt. Rainier equine, has a mobile, endoscope/ gastroscope that is able to be used on the farm for diagnostics. This unit allows the veterinarian and owner to view the scope in real time on a small monitor so findings can be demonstrated and explained. This unit is also able to record images and videos of findings.
Endoscopy- Useful diagnostic tool in visualizing airways and gutteral pouches to aid in the diagnosis of respiratory/ conditions of the sinuses.
Gastroscopy- Horse must be fasted overnight, then a camera (scope), is passed through nose into the stomach to evaluate the condition of the stomach. This is a very useful tool in the diagnosis of equine gastric ulcers and can help determine treatment based on severity and location of ulcers. Medications for ulcer treatment can be a bit pricey so it can be valuable to have a firm diagnosis and established baseline to ensure treatment success
